not like there's a reason to make a new thread when this entire forum gets six posts a year

Day 1 analysis:

Code:
Player    Score    PPR       Nat'l %ile
Q         140      1740      93.6
Toby      130      1740      73.7
Dingo     120      1740      51.0
Nate      110      1740      30.6

Assuming that the PPR is being calculated correctly, this is barely a blip of a day so far and is anyone's game. Way too much remains to give a really interesting analysis. I'll look at it more in-depth after Round 1 ends.

Round 1 analysis:

Image

Picks are left-to-right Dingo (orange), Toby (indigo), Nate (forest green), Q (light blue). Any team that has been eliminated is replaced with an X; seeds are used until the final four where we move to initials to disambiguate. This chart should make it easier to visualize where our brackets differ!

Code:
Player    Score    PPR       Nat'l %ile
Q         270      1520      94.9
Dingo     260      1580      86.1
Nate      240      1500      51.3
Toby      230      1520      35.8

Still close! Congrats to Nate and Dingo for a perfect bracket so far in the South region! I currently lead but am likely to live or die by my gambit to put so much faith into St Mary's (West #7) and Wichita State (South #10). Nobody ventured an upset of a 1, 2, 3, or 4 seed in the first round, and it turns out we were all correct to go chalk there. Nate and Toby are mostly suffering from a Miami choke, but if UNC (Midwest #1) doesn't do their job in the next round, it won't end up hurting them very badly. Nobody appears to be "busted" at all yet.

The Chalky McChalkerson Award goes to Dingo, who bravely picked all #1 and #2 seeds to the Elite Eight.

So far there hasn't been a single result in the tournament so surprising that nobody picked it. Will keep looking for the next complete strikeout if it happens!

Day 3 scores:

Code:
Player    Score    PPR       Nat'l %ile
Nate      360      1360      86.3
Dingo     340      1160      70.7
Toby      330      1340      60.8
Q         330      1220      60.8

Will update the brackets and analyze at the end of the Round of 32, but yesterday made some BIG swings, the standings have nearly been turned completely on their heads! Scores are close, but Q and Dingo are in a rough spot, having lost more late runners than the others.

Analysis entering the Sweet Sixteen:

Image

Picks are left-to-right Dingo (orange), Toby (indigo), Nate (forest green), Q (light blue). Any team that has been eliminated is replaced with an X; seeds are used until the final four where we move to initials to disambiguate.

Code:
Player    Score    PPR       Nat'l %ile
Dingo     460       360      79.4
Toby      430       880      56.7
Nate      420       520      48.6
Q         390       760      28.0

Louisville Doomsday has racked the east side of ISC's brackets. In addition, the defending champion, Villanova, has seen nightfall. With it comes an opportunity for Toby to win it, as his Florida Gators can take the place that the rest of the players had Nova in - he stands to make up 120 points if UF reaches the Final Four.

For Dingo to hang on to the lead, he'll need Florida to fade soon, and Butler as well. In addition, a Gonzaga championship pretty nearly clinches it for Toby -- there are a dire few points for Q to make up ground on Toby, mostly involving 1 seeds beating Toby's 4 seeds.

An Arizona appearance in the National Championship Game is Nate's only hope to gain points on the whole field. If they make the Final Four, there's a chance it could come down to Nate vs Dingo in a proxy war of Arizona vs. their Final Four opponent.

Never has "we are bad at this" rang so true.

Dingo     620        80      84.0
Nate      580        80      67.5
Toby      550       640      52.8
Q         510       640      34.2

Nate and Q reach midnight as they no longer have a way to make up ground on Dingo and Toby, respectively. Dingo is basically clinging to a small lead and hoping none of Toby's remaining wacky picks do anything. Let's get it!

My perfect South is ruined by the dumpster fire that is the rest of my regions.

Analysis entering the Final Four:

Code:
Player    Score    PPR       Nat'l %ile
Dingo     700         X      77.6
Q         670       480      69.4
Nate      660         X      66.4
Toby      630       480      56.7

Welp looks like I blew the analysis last time. As it turns out I did have a team Toby didn't, and now one game determines the outcomes:

SCar def. Gonzaga:
1. Dingo
2. Q
3. Nate
4. Toby

Zags def. Cocks:
1. Q
2. Toby
3. Dingo
4. Nate
